Charter's Method of Tooth Brushing
This Method of Tooth Brushing requires Soft or Medium multi-tufted bristles of the toothbrush. The bristles of the toothbrushes are kept to the crown at 45° to the Long axis of the tooth. It is activated by Short circular or Backward and Forward vibratory motion of the bristles against the gingiva. So it will effectively massage the gingiva and will not drag across the gingiva too.For cleaning the occlusal surfaces of the tooth, the bristles are first kept at the pits and fissures, and then the short backwards and forward strokes are used to clean. The above-mentioned steps are to be repeated until all the occlusal surfaces are cleaned. Charter's Method provide a gentle plaque removal and is particularly prescribed to the patients for cleaning the healing areas of wounds after the periodontal surgery.
